If you are looking to push your Waterfall Ice Climbing grades a bit, this is the program for you! Work on your mixed "dry-tooling" technique, learn leashless techniques, lead climbing skills or just get out on some new and challenging waterfall ice routes. You book your own dates, you tell us what type of ice climb you want to accomplish, and we will choose climbing routes matched to your ability. Perfect as individual instruction, technique coaching, or just an opportunity to climb some challenging waterfalls! CWMS supplies all required technical climbing equipment. The dates for the Advanced Ice Climbing program are set based on demand but can be any dates between December and the end of March based on current ice climbing conditions Return to top
Cost $450. per day + gst for one person $500. per day + gst for 2 people (incl. all technical climbing equipment except boots and crampons) Return to top
Prerequisites Must be experienced with basic rope management skills and previous Ice Climbing course (or equivilant experience). Lead climbing experience is not required. Return to top
Location We choose the location based on current conditions to ensure the best possible experience. These will vary from one date to the next, though courses are usually run near Lillooet, Pemberton or Whistler, with programs also running in the Canadian Rockies as well. Return to top
Guides and Instructors All the Guides and Instructors on our Ice Climbing programs are Certified through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and are among many of the top Ice Climbing guides in British Columbia. Objectives Each advanced Ice course will have a different objective based on the goals, experience and skill levels of the participants. Achieving these objectives while keeping the course as enjoyable (and safe!) as possible is our primary goal. Return to top

Technical equipment (supplied by CWMS if required): Please go over this list before the course to ensure that you are properly prepared. Contact our office if you have any questions, and we can suggest places for you to purchase or rent. Keep in mind that you will be spending all of your time outdoors in the snow in very cold conditions (-10 to -20), and that the weather can vary from one extreme to the other. Ice climbing can be very wet as well, so be prepared with extra clothes. It is recommended that you also have a set of spare street clothes for the end of the course after you have left the mountains. Return to top
Logistics and transportation Our Ice Climbing programs are usually conducted in the Lillooet region, approximately 4 hours drive from Vancouver, BC; or, in the Rockies based out of Golden, BC. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the course area, as well as food and accommodation if an overnight is included. Return to top
