Spend a full day in the back bowls of Whistler/Blackcomb and cover everything – gear, where the best skiing is, route finding, hazard awareness, avalanche safety, ski/riding techniques, and more. Get yourself prepped to head out and see why the backcountry is the place to be this winter!
Winter Snow Camping 2024/25
Spend a night in the backcountry this winter and build a snowshelter or a snow cave with your friends! This is an excellent and fun introduction to Winter Snow Camping where you will learn the skills needed for overnight winter camping, including survival techniques for winter travel, snow shelter building techniques and basic Avalanche skills training. This is also an excellent course to prepare for any larger mountaineering expedition that requires extensive winter camping. Skis or snowshoes can be used on this course.
Pantheon Range, BC
Adjacent to Mt. Waddington, the Pantheons are on the dry side of the Coast Range, providing excellent backcountry skiing conditions with ample dry powder. Our high sub-alpine base camp gives access to some of the most spectacular wilderness ski touring in BC. You will spend nine days backcountry skiing out of Nirvana Pass into the surrounding glaciers and towering peaks of the central Coast Mountains.
Spearhead Traverse, BC
Canada West Mountain School Guides have been leading the Spearhead Range ski mountaineering traverse since 1985 and we know all the best route variations possible! This allows us you to experience the best skiing with the fewest tracks and no crowds! Join our professional ACMG Ski Guides this season on our three-day traverse between Blackcomb and Whistler Mountains. Crossing 12 glaciers on a traverse of the Spearhead Range, the route stays above 2,000 meters most of the way, allowing for amazing skiing and spectacular views.
