Canada West Mountain School Owner and Lead Guide

A certified ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide, Brian has spent many years building a strong and successful year-round instructional program with Canada West Mountain School, in the mountains of Southwestern BC. In addition to developing and leading the CWMS daily operations, he has spent the past 2 decades leading expeditions to the “Seven Summits” of the world, including the successful guided ascent of Mt Everest in 2008. He also has extensive experience in the mountain ranges of Alaska, California’s Sierras, the European Alps, South America’s Andes, Russia’s Caucus Mountains, Antarctica, and has even done some work in the High Atlas Range in Morocco.

During the winter months, if he is not on an international expedition in the southern hemisphere, Brian can be found skiing and exploring the backcountry and glaciers around Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton.

Brian lives in Squamish, BC with his family and divides his time between leading trips and courses, directing the school’s operations, and finding time to continue exploring the mountains of BC.
