The hot and dry weather has cleared out much of the remaining snow in short order, allowing great access to all the spectacular hiking and backpacking destinations in Southwestern BC. While we continue to be vigilant about fire safety during this spell of weather, it is still a great time to get out and enjoy the backcountry!
We have been slowly expanding our weekend backpacking trips into the subalpine and are finding great conditions up high now. The alpine flowers are starting to bloom, creeks are returning to normal levels and the lakes are emerging from under their winter snowcover!
We are running our first weeklong Backpkacing trip in the Southern Chilcotins starting on July 24 (and there are still a couple of spaces available), as well as our Weekend Backpacking Courses are all running as usual through mid-September. At the end of August, we are excited about the Garibaldi Wilderness Traverse, a 7-day journey through a remote a rarely visited section of Garibaldi Park.
We hope you are getting out and safely enjoying the mountains this summer!
